School Visits

I would love to come to your school!

Email responses from teachers I have received after my visits:

"The kids are talking about your storytelling and books! You made a wonderful impression on our students!"  - Wait Elementary School, Streetsboro, Ohio (Preschool-1st Grade)

"Our class wanted to say thank you for coming in to visit! They really enjoyed you and your books. They were so excited to receive a class set of books from you!" - First Grade Class, Craddock Elementary, Aurora, Ohio

"Your presentation was amazing! Thanks for connecting writing and real life for the kids!" - Third Grade teacher, Leighton Elementary School, Aurora, Ohio (Photos from this visit)

"The class was captivated by his every word." - Solon City Schools (Photos from this visit)

I will present to up to three classes of students at a time in a school library or classroom setting.  This smaller setting allows me to interact with the students as I read my books and discuss the process of writing and illustrating picture books. I am flexible with the number of presentations during the school day. The ideal amount of time for each group is 30-40 minutes.

Upon request, my presentations can be tailored to address specific Common Core Standands. Please inquire about this option.

Fees and Rate:

Schools within 25 mile radius of Aurora, Ohio (44202)  - $75/day

Schools outside of 25 mile radius of Aurora, Ohio (44202) - $100/day + transportation cost (varies) + lodging (if necessary)

Note: To keep my fees low I would ask that an order form for my books is sent home to each family in the school.   The order forms can be sent home before my visit, but I would prefer that they are sent home the day of my visit.  A deadline will be set for orders and then I will come back to the school to fulfill each book purchase with an autograph and personalization.

A few things to think about:
1.  My books have been enjoyed by children Pre-K through first grade. However, I have presented to second, third, and fourth grade classrooms about the writing process.

2.  I have also presented at Family Literacy Nights.  I love modeling my approach to reading a picture book and enjoy discussing my experiences reading to my four children. (This presentation would be an additional fee.)  Check out my family literacy blog, Happy Birthday Author.
Family Reading Night - Miller Elementary, Aurora City Schools
Family Literacy Night - Echo Hills Elementary, Stow Munroe Falls City Schools
3. I will also visit public libraries, fall festivals, and retail stores.

Halloween Promotion - EarthFare Food Retail Store, Solon, Ohio
Halloween Promotion - Yogurt Plus, Rocky River, Ohio
