Make Ghost Ornaments with 3 Ingredients

Three Ghost Friends Ornaments
What You Will Need:
1. 2 Cups Baking Soda
2. 1 Cup Corn Starch
3. 1 1/4 Cup Water
4. Markers
5. Ribbon or pipe cleaners to hang the ornaments
6. Rolling Pins

Only 3 ingredients are needed to make these ornaments - water, baking soda, and corn starch. First, mix the baking soda and corn starch together in a bowl.  Then, mix in the water until smooth.
Add the mixture to a cooking pan. Then, cook over medium heat until it looks like mashed potatoes. (It took about 6 minutes for the dough to become the consistency of mashed potatoes.)
We placed the dough in a plastic bag and stored the dough in the refrigerator over night.  The following morning we divided the dough and rolled it flat.
We used our hands to form the dough into ghosts and other shapes.
This recipe provided enough dough for my three children to make multiple shapes.
Once the ghost shapes were complete we put them on a cookie sheet and then placed them outside in the sun to dry. If you plan on displaying these as ornaments, make sure you poke a hole to thread a ribbon.
The ornaments dried faster than I thought.  However, it was very warm outside and I did flip the ornaments throughout the day numerous times.  To ensure they were completely dry we waited until the next day to decorate. Once, the ornaments were dry we used markers to decorate and add faces.
We even made a few "shape" ghosts from the eBook Three Ghost Friends: Learn About Shapes. Add ribbon or use pipe cleaners to hang the ghost ornaments.
This activity was designed to be used along with Three Ghost Friends: Learn About Shapes.
