Spell Your Shape Words with the Three Ghost Friends

Great as a Toddler Busy Bag, Shoe Box Task Activity,
Work Baskets, Preschool Center Activity, Tot School
I made this activity after the overwhelming response from the Spell Your Color Words with the Three Ghost Friends activity.  I hope your children can enjoy this activity too.  Please share it with your friends and family!

What you will need:
1. Download and print the activity sheets (two sets are available - with letters and/or without shape words.)
2. Lamination/laminator/clear contact paper (if desired) or cardboard (reuse cereal box)
3. Velcro
4. Glue stick if not using lamination
5. Scissors
6. Three Ghost Friends: Learn About Shapes e-book

Directions:
1. Download and print the activity sheets. (two sets are available - with letters and/or without shape words.)
2. Cut out letter shape tiles and spelling cards.
3. Laminate spelling cards and letter shape tiles. (Laminating is not necessary. Mounting on card board works too!)
4. Add velcro dots or strips to the back of the letter shape tiles and the shapes on spelling cards.
5. Child will place correct letter shape tiles in the squares to spell the color words.
6. Two printable sets are available - Spelling cards with shape words to match and spelling cards without shape words.  Once your child masters the first set then you can try the next set.

Cut and make your materials sturdy.  I chose to laminate but there are many other options -- mount on cardboard, cover with clear contact paper or packaging tape, etc. If you are laminating, use a glue stick to glue the letter shape tiles inside the laminating pouch so they do not shift around while laminating.
Materials are ready for the velcro.
When velcroing, I first adhered the soft velcro to the spelling card.  Then, stuck the hard velcro on top  so that it was aligned.  Lastly, the shape letter tile was pressed on top of the sticky back of the velcro. This process keeps the letters aligned with the outline.
My 2 year-old son was very excited to see this new activity.  He loved the Spell Your Color Words activity too!
This triangle spelling card was challenging even for my 4 year old son!
We even read the e-book and matched the shapes to the illustrations.

This activity was designed to be used along with Three Ghost Friends: Learn About Shapes.
